Unable To Log Into RCN Email On Mozilla Firefox. How To Fix?

05/17/2018

Some people after confusing an RCN email-based ad with a pop-up blocked the permissions to the ad. As a result, they couldn't log into their RCN email account. The problem is arising particularly in Mozilla Firefox, so let us discuss the process of fixing this problem.

Recently, many RCN email users faced a very strange problem while using their RCN email accounts. They told that they kicked out their email accounts, and were not able to get back in despite various attempts. They said it happened because they blocked all the permissions on ads in the RCN email inbox page. When they contacted RCN for help and support, the company said that the problem is with the Mozilla Firefox browser, so they can only fix it.

The problem in detail:

Some RCN users have removed a pop-up ad from their RCN email inbox page, and they tried to do the exact same thing to another page that is on the opposite side of the page. But, soon they realized that they have not blocked a pop-up, but have blocked an ad that was part of the inbox page. So, they right clicked on that ad and then, clicked on 'View Page Info'. After that, they went to the 'Permissions' Window and saw seven categories there. In each of those categories, the option of 'use default' was already checked. So, what they did is, they unchecked 'use default' option in each of those categories and checked 'Blocked' option instead.

After doing this, they closed the window and they found themselves back to the log-in page, which was strange because they were in the inbox page of their RCN email. They tried to log into their RCN email account but were unable to do so. They called up RCN email help and support provider for help, who assisted them in the best possible way. All users had used Internet Explorer or Google Chrome to fix this problem and succeeded with it. So, the experts at RCN told that the problem is with Mozilla Firefox, and things will only be resolved if they reset the web browser. So, people are looking for an alternative way by which this problem can also end and they don't have to reset their Mozilla Firefox browser and lose all their settings.

Solution to this problem:

People will have to undo their permission changes, with cookies being the most prominent of them all. Here are the methods that they can try:

First Method: Go to 'Page Info' followed by 'Permissions' tab.

If they are viewing the page on the website, then:

  • Right-click and select 'View page info' followed by 'permissions'.
  • Press 'Alt + t' key open classic tools menu and then, click 'page info' followed by 'permissions'.

Second method: Enter 'about:permissions'.

When they enter about:permissions in the address bar and press enter, then they are going to see a list on the left side of the screen. It will take some time for all the information to be fully displayed on the screen.

Once the information has been displayed, then type or paste 'rcn' in the search box that is given right above the list. Doing that will filter the list to the most relevant domains. You can now highlight a domain in order to adjust its permissions in the right pane.
